Sampurna Children’s Home was established in Dakshinkali-6 , Kathmandu, Nepal in November 2015. There are 12 children living in the “home , nine children from the surrounding villages within Dakshinkali Municipality , two from Rukum District and one from Makwanpur District These children, who had been living in desperate circumstances, found a safe and secure home here.
Since their arrival at the children’s home, the children started to attend Shikharapur Community School in Pharping and have gained great amounts of self-esteem and happiness. Their academic progress is very good, and some of them excel in sports, arts, and/or music. They are looking ahead toward a bright future, and can be sure of the organization’s support on their way into adulthood and independence.
The children are encouraged to stay in contact with their families, and they go back home to visit them twice a year during school holidays. Once a week, their families have the opportunity to see the children at the children’s home.
Life at the children’s home is well structured to assure a healthy balance of study time, play time, outdoor activities, personal hygiene and learning of life skills. The house is kept clean and tidy, and all children participate indaily tasks, according to their age and abilities. Their diet is traditionally Nepalese, mostly vegetarian, and meals are varied and always freshly cooked. Our own vegetable garden produces tasty, organic produce. Our team of dedicated volunteers, as well as one staff member are always there to offer help and advice, games and discipline, and guide them through their journey in life.
We are more than happy to be a part of it.
